FED: Hayden airing of Keating rumours despicable = 2
Former Labor minister Bob Collins today said many people inside and outside the Labor
movement, who knew the couple well, would be saddened by the announcement.
But he said he was not surprised by the decision and politics probably played a significant
role in the break-up.
"But its sad to see any relationship that long-lasting and that good finish up the way it
has - 23 years and a bunch of beautiful kids," Mr Collins told ABC Radio.
"Politics does seem to have particular problems ...
"And I have no doubt that politics inflicted its considerable amount of damage on that
particular relationship."
