PASSED - The enabling legislation for the US free trade agreement, by the Senate with
a vote of 51 to 10.

SIGNED - A statement criticising the Howard Government's foreign policy on the Iraq
war, by 43 of Australia's former service chiefs and diplomats.

RESIGNED - Tasmanian Governor Richard Butler, 62, to end what he called a malicious
campaign against him and his wife. He will receive $650,000 for his 10-months in office.

POACHED - New NAB chief executive Ahmed Fahour, 37, from rival Citigroup, with a $12
million welcome.

LOST - An appeal by serial killers John Bunting and Robert Wagner over their conviction
for the Snowtown murders in South Australia.

EQUALLED - Greg Norman's record run of 331 weeks as the world's No.1 golfer, by Tiger Woods.

DIED - Sydney Swans head trainer Wally Jackson, 56, after suffering a heart attack
midway through a match against the Kangaroos.

ARRIVED - Australia's 483-strong team for the Athens Games. It is the largest team
Australia has sent to an overseas Olympics.
